How This Calculator Works
Based on your soiling level, we estimate the percentage of daily generation you're losing. Research shows moderate soiling causes 10–15% loss; heavy soiling 20–28%.
We use average daily peak sun hours per state (QLD: 5.5 hrs, VIC: 4.4 hrs, WA: 5.7 hrs etc.) to estimate annual kWh generation and lost output.
Lost kWh value = (self-consumed portion × retail rate) + (exported portion × feed-in tariff). This gives a real dollar figure based on your actual rate mix.
The payback period is simply how many months of recovered value it takes to cover the cost of a professional clean.
